ARLANXEO TIRE TECHNOLOGY EXPO 2019
ENABLER OF HIGH-PERFORMANCE TIRE SOLUTIONS
- Featuring tire performance boosting technologies
- Showcase SBR solution for speedway tires and Buna Nd 24 EZ
- Tire Technology Expo 2019, Hannover, Germany - Hall 20, Stand C216
Maastricht - ARLANXEO, a global leader in performance elastomers, will highlight its latest achievements and developments in new eMobility oriented technologies from March 5 - 7th, at the Tire Technology Expo 2019 in Hannover, Germany.
ARLANXEO’s products are marketed under two brands in the Business Unit Tire & Specialty Rubbers: X_Butyl® which stands for premium butyl rubber products, and Buna® which stands for a multilateral range of modern butadiene rubber products.
In the tire sector, ARLANXEO’s high-tech rubber offers exceptional dynamic properties, strong impermeability, excellent resilience and grip, reduced rolling resistance, and high durability to ensure tire performance while decreasing fuel consumption and CO2 emissions.
Frank Lueckgen, Global Marketing Tires Director, BU Tire & Specialty Rubbers: “The stricter regulations of CO2 emissions implemented worldwide, the increasing number of electric cars and the scope of autonomous driving represent a significant challenge for all car manufacturers, undeniably. Tires have a major impact on all of those new developments and needs. We, at ARLANXEO, as a leading rubber manufacturer support the tire manufacturers to master these challenges successfully.”
ARLANXEO Tire & Specialty Rubbers (TSR) Business Unit offers solutions for the markets of today and tomorrow. As consumers’ needs increase, ARLANXEO supports the development of performance tires that encompass comfort, safety concurrently with economic and environmental sustainability. eMobility, Sustainability, Urbanization, Digitization, are key drivers of ARLANXEO R&D and product application”.
“In our TSR Business Unit we work intensively to develop new synthetic rubber types, especially BRs and SSBRs, and functionalization technologies to deliver state-of-the-art materials to our customers”, explains Frank Lueckgen.
Furthermore, the evolution and increasing needs of eMobility, require cooperation between the customer and the raw material manufacturers; therefore, ARLANXEO BU TSR has established interfaces with its customers to design, test and produce synthetic rubber grades that meet their needs within the context of Industry 4.0.
During the Tire Technology Expo 2019, ARLANXEO TSR Business Unit will showcase a Speedway tire (powered by an ARLANXEO solution SBR) and Buna Nd 24 EZ (modified and long chain branched, neodymium butadine rubber).
ARLANXEO experts will also give two presentations at the conference, highlighting advancements in the tire material science sector.
David Hardy, Technical service and development manager at ARLANXEO will give a presentation titled: “NdBR tailored for maximum performance and easy processing”.
As he notes: “Our R&D efforts are focused on improving the dynamic performance of our customer´s compounds in order to reduce rolling resistance without sacrificing the safety aspects of the tire. However, as the compounds become more elastic for improved rolling resistance performance, processing during tire production can become more challenging. Hence we also continue our efforts to develop new rubbers that can improve processing whilst maintaining the gains made in dynamic performance”.
Dr. Saeid Kheirandish, Project manager, polymer testing at ARLANXEO, will give a presentation titled: “The physics of tire compound processing: considerations for the 21st century”.
As he remarks: “At ARLANXEO we focus more deeply on topics related to the rheology of new materials and the way these new systems (rubber + filler + additives) can be processed for tire applications. We are developing relevant testing methods and physical models that more accurately describe the viscoelastic behaviour of rubber compounds and consequently, predict compound behaviour in real-life applications such as extrusion and mixing; thus, we will be optimising processing operations both for ARLANXEO and our customers and decreasing considerably their costs”.
ARLANXEO in the Conference Program
The physics of tire compound processing: considerations for the 21st century by Dr. Saeid Kheirandish, Project Manager, Polymer Testing, ARLANXEO Deutschland GmbH.
Abstract: The state-of-the-art physical and rheological testing facilities of ARLANXEO in Leverkusen allow for precise characterization of raw polymer structure, provide the possibility of obtaining relevant physical characteristics of compounds and performing small-scale processing trials. In order to find more about the methodology used for conducting rheological tests and processing studies, Dr. Saeid Kheirandish will be presenting on Thursday, March 7
Stream 10 - The Changing Role of Polymer Science in Tire Performance Improvements.
NdBR tailored for maximum performance and easy processing, by Dave Hardy, Technical Service and Development Manager, ARLANXEO Deutschland GmbH. Abstract: Compounders are looking to use NdBR grades that are easy to mix and process but show no drawback in performance. For this purpose ARLANXEO developed the Buna® Nd EZ grades.
To find out more about our solution, Dave Hardy will be presenting on Wednesday March 6, Stream 7 - Sustainability Developments Within Tire Material Science
Business Unit Tire & Specialty Rubbers
Tire & Specialty Rubbers (TSR), a business unit of the ARLANXEO group, offers a broad portfolio of versatile rubbers primarily for applications in tire production. They are used in, for example, the inner liners (the airtight layers) of tires as well as for the tread, side walls and other tire components. Other applications include chewing gum, sports and golf balls, hoses and conveyor belts.
ARLANXEO Tire & Specialty Rubbers (BU TSR) Business Unit operates in Asia (Singapore), Europe (Dormagen, Germany; Port Jerôme, France; Zwijndrecht, Belgium), North America (Sarnia, Canada; Orange, USA), and South America (Caxias, Cabo and Triunfo, Brazil). In addition, we have established R&D hubs for our TSR Business Unit in Caxias (Brazil), Dormagen, Germany), and London (Canada).
ARLANXEO is a world-leading synthetic rubber company with sales of around EUR 3.2 billion in 2017, about 3,900 employees and a presence at 20 production sites in 9 countries. The company’s core business is the development, manufacturing and marketing of high-performance rubber for use in, for example, the automotive and tire industries, the construction industry, and the oil and gas industries. ARLANXEO was established in April 2016 as a joint venture of LANXESS and Saudi Aramco. On January 1st, 2019, Saudi Aramco, a leading producer of energy and chemicals, became the sole owner of ARLANXEO.
